Reel to Real is thrilled to present our Outdoor Summer Film Series again! Gather your family and enjoy a FREE evening of animation workshops at Performance Works and films at Ron Basford Park’s amphitheatre.

When: 3 Fridays in August – 16th, 23rd & 30th
Where: Ron Basford Park on Granville Island, Vancouver, BC
What: Free animation workshops from 6:00 pm until the film screening starts at 8:30 pm

Free parking will be available from 6:00 pm onwards and accessible washrooms are on site. Bring a blanket, some snacks and enjoy the show under the stars!

Based on the Irish legend of the Selkies, SONG OF THE SEA tells the story of the last seal- child, Saoirse, and her brother Ben, who go on an epic journey to save the world of magic and discover the secrets of their past. Pursued by the owl witch, Macha, and a host of ancient and mystical creatures, Saoirse and Ben race against time to awaken Saoirse’s powers and keep the spirit world from disappearing forever.

This program showcases a cross-section of some of the boldest and brightest Canadian filmmakers we've programmed at R2R over the years. Award-winning works and daring new voices offer unique insights on what it means to care for one another, to be alive, and to recognize our sense of belonging.

Friday, August 30th

Heidi, a five-year-old orphan, lives with her grandfather in the Swiss mountains. Her happiness ends when her aunt Dete takes Heidi to Frankfurt, where she is to help take care of a sickly child, Klara.
