Chuskit’s dream of going to school is cut short when an unexpected accident leaves her a paraplegic. She’s confined to live indoors in the company of her strict grandfather, Dorje. Chuskit holds onto her hopes of attending school, though she realizes it’s not feasible for her to travel across mountainous terrain in a wheelchair. As life at home gets harder, and her friends go to school without her, Chuskit struggles to accept her new reality. Caught in a generational battle, Chuskit’s parents and brother try to respect the old world views of Dorje, but they also want to keep Chuskit’s vibrant spirit alive. Chuskit needs to convince her grandfather to yield, or she will have to accept his domineering approach. With scenic images of the Himalayas and its rural life, Chuskit brings a vigorous amount of passion and heart to a familiar, challenging, and all too common family situation.
