Twelve-year-old Justine firmly believes that she will be happier once her parents divorce. The only catch? Her parents aren’t considering this eventuality in any way. Drained by the shouting and bickering that pervades their home since her mother’s miscarriage, Justine rallies a group of her friends to hatch a plan that will convince her lawyer parents to reconsider their marriage. The kids gather research and evidence to create a publicly staged examination of the facts – it’s their own court of appeals to consider Jusutine’s best interest. What could possibly go wrong? If all does not go as planned, Justine will have to learn to communicate her pain with a more conducive approach, which means her parents will have the opportunity to meet her needs. A playful and at times serious look at the dynamics and importance of compassionate familial communication.
