After being forced to leave everything behind, Saleem, a young boy carrying the burden of his past, stumbles upon a treasure map and embarks on a life-changing quest. Saleem’s father died during a traumatic experience and now his family must start anew as refugees. Invited to be vulnerable with those who attempt to support him, young Saleem must overcome his inner turmoil and accept the help of a caring counsellor, his family, and some new friends and neighbours. Saleem is guided to honour his emotional experience and move through a mountain of grief and longing for his home. Through this journey he also uncovers the secrets of his beautiful and resilient culture. A light and playful animated look at the process of acknowledging trauma and healing. The filmmakers worked with a child psychologist to ensure they were accurately portraying a world of childhood distress while also offering tools of support to not only Saleem, but the audience as well. Empathy and love shine bright as Saleem learns to lead with his heart.
